How to convert your laptop into a wireless hot spot

Did you know that your laptop can work as a wireless hot spot? Unless your laptop is working as Ethernet and Wi-Fi at the same time, it can work as a wireless hot spot.

But why do you want to turn your laptop into a hot spot? Imagine a situation where there are several people may attend the conference, but there is only one Ethernet-connection. How can all connect to the internet? Simple, to convert one of the laptops in hot spots and share a single Ethernet-connection to each other.

Lets see how to do it. This is actually much easier than you imagine.

In Windows Vista:
Connect your laptop to the Internet using the Ethernet-cable.
Open the control panel and go to the network and sharing center.
Create a new connection is called an ad hoc wireless network.
Give it a name and install the required security options.
Uncheck the Save this network.
Finally, click on the queue on the Internet Connection.
Now everyone can connect the laptop to Wi-Fi.

In Windows XP:

Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet using the Ethernet-cable.
Go to Control Panel and open Network Connections.
Right-click the wireless connection and select Properties.
On the Wireless Networks tab, check Use Windows to configure wireless network, my settings.
Under Preferred networks, click Add, and name of the network.
Choose a share, and a password.

Click the Advanced button and click Computer-to-computer (Ad Hoc) networks only.
Return to the Network Connections Control Panel and open the box your wired internet connection.
Go to the Advanced menu and check the box next to Allow other network users to connect through this computer internet connection.

It seems that many of the steps for XP, but when you actually do this, you will be running in a few minutes.
